New Flat... New skills

Me and my girlfriend moved in to our new flat on tuesday (woop!) and as most moving days are, it was stressful as hell. Even more so when the set of keys we were given DIDN'T WORK and we ended up being locked out from 8.30pm till about midnight. Luckily our awesome friends from El Panchos (mexican restaurant beneath my old flat) lent us a ladder and we managed to break in through the kitchen window. The ladder is currently still there.

Tilt Shift photography

Tilt-Shift photography is a fancy pants term for making photos of real life trick the viewer's eye into believing the captured images are those of miniature model sets. There are cameras available that will take photos like this, or by using lens blur, over-saturation and a bit of high contrast you can do it yourself with any normal photo..






But it obviously helps to make them look like a model if you take the original photos from a higher perspective (examples taken from HERE)...

Destroy All Monsters

I recently stumbled upoon an exhibition showcasing a shedload of art associated with the cult garage band Destroy All Monsters. Suffice to say to blew my mind.. my camera ran out of film whilst there but i managed to capture the below images which merely hint at the insanity that was on show..



Although i'd never heard of the band before this moment, i later discovered that the members included Ron Asheton of The Stooges and Michael Davis of the MC5. Amazing. Check out more about the band here

My girlfriend bought me this wooden owl as a present. Not only does he look the business, if you blow in the back of his head he makes real-life owl sounds! It's not often you get given stuff this cool.

Hidden Treasures

I managed to find myself down at the British museum last week and found it to be a complete treasure trove of cool and interesting stuff. From mummies, ancient Roman gods and even a complete, real-life sacrificial temple.. transported in its entirety all the way from Athens. It was like (time-)travelling all across europe within one awesome space..
